I Really Should Get the Sucker Tattoo Removed From My Forehead

I received an email Monday to all parents of my daughter’s upcoming Spring Soccer Team:

We are currently looking for a coach and a team manager for your child's U8 girls soccer team. We have an assistant coach (thank you!) however we need a volunteer for the coaching position. We truly value and appreciate all of our volunteers. Please email me if you’re interested. Thanks in advance!

I deleted the email.

I received a second email first thing Tuesday morning repeating the same message.

I deleted the email.

I received a third email at 10:23 Tuesday morning asking again:

We are currently looking for a coach for your child's U8 girls soccer team. Without a coach we may have no team.  We truly value and appreciate all of our volunteers. If you are interested please email me as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!

So this third email Tuesday to all of us parents is stating that if a Head Coach was not found soon the team would have to fold.

I answered the email at 10:55 simply saying:

I have coached Basketball and Volleyball. Have my current Background Check, however, have never coached Soccer. I am willing to try if all else fails. I do love Coaching. How competitive are we talking? :)

This was the first response:

Not real competitive. With your Coaching experience you’ll do fine. Thanks!

This was the next response sent to all parents at 1:41pm Tuesday:

We now have a coach and an assistant coach. Thank you to our volunteers. You will be hearing from your coach after Sunday.

Almost simultaneously I received this email separately:

Coaches:

Thank you for volunteering as a coach for the Spring 2012 season. We will be having a coaches meeting on Sunday, March 4th. At this meeting you will receive your rosters and equipment. Coaches, please wear comfortable shoes and clothing for an optional coaches clinic. Any questions you may have can be answered at this time. We are looking forward to an exciting season of soccer. See you there!

Guess she jumped on that real quick!! So, guess what!? I’m coaching Soccer!
